safety

Colo Railroad Builders follows a strict set of safety standards. Each Colo employee is trained in and measured by these standards to ensure high quality results. Since 2002, we have been recognized annually by the National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association Safety Committee (NRCMA) for excellence in safety practices.

Safety Precautions:

  • In addition to requiring our employees to attend annual safety training classes, we employ a written safety exam on FRA 214 safety requirements
  • We conduct random safety audits on job sites and provide those results to the General Manager for review and corrective action
  • All accidents, regardless of the severity are investigated and reported on our OSHA 300 log.
  • Daily safety briefings are conducted each day to inform and remind our crews about specific safety requirements for that day
  • All employees are provided with safety equipment
  • New employees are given a thorough safety orientation before being allowed to work at the job site
  • Crew vehicles and equipment are equipped with fire extinguishers and first aid kits and all supervisors have mobile telephones to contact Emergency Services as needed
  • Pre-employment physicals are given to employees to measure their ability to meet the physical requirements of the job
  • All Field Employees are required to participate in a random drug-testing program
